OldSchoolHealthBar

What's the practical application of this though?

UpdatePleaseAndThankYou

Someone check on the string theorists, they might be panicking.

NeatlyWrappedNonsense

The fact that it used existing methods is actually reassuring.

TentedWithThoughts_2

So AI is a tool that can do tedious calculations faster than us. Shocking.

SudokuScholar

But the real question is: can it formulate new theories?

TwistingWithTruth

This is going to change how theoretical physics research is done.

PonderingWithoutPurpose

I want to see the look on the reviewers' faces at the journal.

LunchboxLuminaire

Anthropic just casually announced this like it's no big deal.

PyroclasticPersonality

The compute cost is surprisingly low. Only 96 CPU cores for a week.

AncientWithWifi

Next up: AI solves quantum gravity? Probably not but who knows.

ThesisOfThoughts

This feels like a watershed moment for AI in science.

SilentClownEnergy

Matt von Hippel is probably both proud and terrified right now.

FrostedWithFacts

I love that they framed it as a challenge and AI just said 'hold my beer'.

NightSkyNarrator

Does this mean we can finally make progress on the Yang-Mills mass gap?

OfficeHoursOnly

The verification process is key here. Dixon's team confirmed it.

DimensionalDrifter

So AI is now a collaborator in fundamental research. Huh.

KeyToEverywhere_Lost

I wonder if this will accelerate the next big breakthrough in physics.

ShadowsWithSentience

The methods were all human-invented, the AI just executed at scale.

EnigmaMachineEnjoyer

This is a reminder that AI is really good at pattern matching and computation.

AutumnLeafFalling

Can we get an ELI5 for what nine loops actually means?
